Infinitives, Gerunds, And Participles
Infinitives are verb forms that are preceded by the word to, such as to eat, to grow, to work. Gerunds are verb forms that end with -ing and act as nouns. (Running is my hobby, swimming is fun) Participles are verb forms that end with -ing that act as adjectives (swimming pool, skating rink) E.g. Team officials heralded Cap Day as an attempt at attracting a larger turnout of fans. – should be replaced as “to attract”
